I don’t do this often but I want to show my hometown some love by supporting a great restaurant in a developing area. Joey’s is a great place to fill up at before heading over to party. It’s in the Wynwood area of Miami, mostly known for its monthly Saturday art walk and for being one of the few places other than the beach where you can have a good time. In case you’re thinking of never going to Joey’s because it was robbed at gunpoint recently, don’t do yourself the disservice and don’t be a fucking chickenshit. This area will never be all it can be if people are scared off my some thugs. Same could have been said about a lot of areas in New York not too long ago. These are pictures from when I was last home, in December of 2010, that I had almost forgotten about before reading about this robbery in the news. The bathrooms are big single stalls, right up front and to the right. I give em 4 flushes. 

This bar has been a refuge from the offensive heat many times this summer. They are dog friendly, have an awesome pickle plate, $3 Reissdorf Koelsch, outside seating including an old apple shaped ski lift, and games like an indoor shuffle board table. The art is quirky and seems to have no definite aim other than to make you feel like you’re in a comfortable place. The music is always good too which can be attributed to the nice bartenders. The events are pretty interesting too, like Women’s Arm Wrestling Competitions or screenings of Twin Peaks. The bathrooms are single stalls but there are more than one and they’re very fucking cool, with old cassette tapes covering the walls and plenty of TP. I give it 5 flushes.
