With all this talk about Mario Batali’s rooftop beer garden, La Bierreria, opening up next week, I figured I should push out this Eataly bathroom I’ve been sitting on since it opened last summer. The place already has 3 different eating spots, each specializing in different fare, plus gelato, butchers, cheesmongers, etc all combined in a mega-sized Italian market. The bathroom is over by the beer display area, as Batali cheekily points out in his magnificent sign. This bathroom is a big, checkerboard floored bathroom. Although its a completely different atmosphere, the 4 flush rating is a big step up from Otto’s 2 flushes.

Before I moved to NYC I didnt know anything about Shake Shack except what I had heard from overzealous tourist. I didnt actually try it until they opened the one on the UES, around the corner from where I used to live, back in August of last year. Life changing. My skepticism kept me from a delicious burger and fries and shakes for a long time and so I have made it my mission to try burgers at each of the locations, including the one on South Beach. The bathrooms are pretty high tech, featuring an airblade style hand dryer and fancy floating toilet. There are several single stalls, and often there is a line, so I think they should have splurged on a couple more or maybe a row of stalls, mens and womens. I give this Shake Shack’s bathrooms 3 flushes.

On my last trip home, after being stranded in Florida for way too long due to the Blizzard of 2010, I was craving a taste of NYC, and a dose of buttery beef patties was the only thing that was going to cheer me up. Lucky for me a Shake Shack recently opened up on Lincoln Rd, within walking distance of my favorite bar, the Abbey. I am a former Shake Shack skeptic, now a Shake Shack fanatic, spreading the gospel across the east coast. The bathrooms here are 2 flushes worthy but the burgers should inspire a trip to check out the rest of the Shake Shacks in NYC.

Did you know May is National Hamburger Month? Well if you dont know, now you know. I had a pretty amazing burger at Caesars in Atlantic City. After a hungover ride on Amtrak to Atlantic City, an unsuccessful run at the roulette table, and in the midst of an all nighter, this burger put me back in the game. The bathrooms around the corner from the restaurant were abandoned and immaculate at that time of night. I give them 5 flushes.
